2 Corinthians 9:7
So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity;
for God loves a cheerful giver.
Why we tithe:
It's important for us to identify why we tithe in order to avoid going through the motions and truly serve God with our money through a faithful heart. Reason number one is that tithing 'keeps the lights on' so to speak but it does so much more. Your servitude in tithing is used across the board in church from taking care of those in need to buying new worship equipment. In short, we do our best to that your faith is used to serve God in an effective and healthy way beyond the reach of any one person's capabilities.
